there is only darkness here. (history) Lauralae is an Aellyn elf that once resided in the hidden homeland of her people, learning how to control her powers and educated on the nature of her heritage. She ended up suffering from an accident of fate that left her half-possessed and damaged, however, and was cast out and ended up in exile. Since then she travelled the Drabwurld, settling in Nimh Gleanne as much as she can, using the powers she has to try and break the curse she has suffered. Specialising in blood magic, shapeshifting and the magic of her people, Lauralae is a wild creature that is looking for nothing more than a means to get what she wants. She is shy, dark and reserved, careful with her alliances and not keen or prepared to make long-term friendships. She has been burned in the past and lost everyone she has cared for to either death or distrust - and she refuses to let herself be in that position again, even as she begins to heal. Despite her age, thanks to her heritage, Lauralae appears to be a young woman in her teens. Her most noticeable features are a scar across her lips and her ears - scarred, as if a young child had took a knife to them and cut off the tips of her elven heritage. Once upon a time, as many tales around the small town might whisper, she was known as a witch with black hands; she wore gloves to hide them but the people knew. The source of this was her possession by a Revenant, transforming her into one as chosen by the Shuck, and her denial and misunderstanding of her new heritage left her damaged. Since accepting who and what she is, Lauralae has healed her hands and found herself new powers to grasp and enjoy as the future unfolds. but in my heart there is strength. (powers) BLOOD MAGIC; Lauralae's magic is founded upon the basis of using blood to perform and cast her spells. Unable to use her palm due to the poison that once covered her hands she was forced to use her wrists and forearm, making blood magic itself especially dangerous for her and leaving her scarred with marks, cuts and runes along her skin. SHAPE SHIFTING She can transform into a wolf; a dark, dangerous looking canine creature. It allows her to travel, to hide, to spy and to protect herself from her own life and cravings. Through this form she has learned to hunt, to stalk, and to scent the air, and her connection with her 'other self' allows her better sight and smell even when she's no longer a wolf. POWER ABSORPTION As part of her Revenant nature, Lauralae can literally acquire or absorb the powers of the dead flesh she eats in order to sustain herself. The body parts she eats have to be fresh, recently dead and when she eats it she becomes able to use the magic or the powers that the person she has eaten once had at hand. This only works with flesh, not blood. IMMORTALITY Thanks to her transformation into a Revenant, Lauralae is an immortal being - when she dies, she will return to life after a week of absence. When she does die, however, she will lose any and all powers that she has gained through eating anyone - and will have to start eating people again to develop any new gifts. HEALING MAGIC After training Clarke Griffin in blood magic, Lauralae was taught Final Fantasy-esque healing magic in return. She knows Cure, Cura, Curaga, Esuna and Life, though the Life magic can't be used to bring people back from the dead. EARTHBENDING / WATERBENDING Taught to her by Wan, Lauralae is an somewhat adept at both water and earth bending. She is far more capable with water, considering that her stubbornness hindered her when it came to trying to use earth, but she has been practising for both many months. reaching out is a twilight task. (network) ✖ BLACK SHUCK Ever since she found herself in exile, Lauralae had been a stout and avid worshipper of the Shuck, content to bask in whatever remnants of him that she could - until she came to him in Quendi and learned of her true connection to him. Since then, she has undertaken the task he had given her with all that she has, and remains utterly devoted to her Lord and God, even to the point of dismissing those she had once cared about. ✖ ELFKIN Informally known as 'Iorveth of Mine', the first shardholder she came across that she decided to claim the shard of. As a man that doesn't seem to care about her nature, her murderous intent or her magic, Iorveth has become a confidant, if not quite a friend, and she can often be found returning to his side - though she would never admit to missing him. ✖ RED HAND As John Grimm is Shuck's Son and considered Lauralae's alpha and Pack, she is, in turn, devoted to him and the cause they share. Signing up for the Red Hand was more an accident than anything, but she is determined to do as her pack requests and more than content to spend more time with him. ✖ THE FOURTH SPIRE After visiting at the request of Jack Benjamin, she struck an accord with the Baron Johnny Storm; she would tutor him in the magic she knew in return for room, shards and housing for her pets.
