| BLOOD MAGIC AS TAUGHT BY LAURALAE |
| Lauralae's version of blood magic is mostly self-taught, coming hand in hand with her nature as a Revenant and the fact that she had been unaware of what, exactly, she was for a long period of her life. Despite studying runes and magic throughout her travels, her default magical source is blood magic itself, including using it to power runes, perform rituals, track, trace and damage enemies. While it has it's obvious weaknesses (blood loss, exhaustion, etc) it is a powerful version of magic that can perform incredible feats. Her sense of blood magic is very much like the Force in the Star Wars series; by sensing the blood of others, as in their life itself, Lauralae is capable of using her own blood to manipulate and use it to cause them pain and suffering. By doing so, she can use their blood against them as she uses her own to power herself - and can perform things like suffocation by using the force of blood and her own strength against her enemies. In a way, it's also very like Blood-bending in the Avatar series, with less control over the liquid blood itself and more control over the life in the blood and the power that it has. This style blood magic isn't designed to be used in a fight, of course, since the limitations of what might be possible with that level of control over someone else's body might be capable of. The foremost use of Lauralae's version of magic is to empower and use runes and rituals in order to get the greatest level of effects from them - the sacrifice of blood is powerful enough to lend great energy to the runes. The most powerful use of blood magic is in ritual, however, rather than in simple runes. By using her blood, Lauralae can perform powerful magic rituals that allow her to track even the Gods themselves (such as Death and Life itself). This requires a great deal of blood as sacrifice, however, and Lauralae is not keen to teach this except to the best of her students - should any get so far. Obviously, the more blood used the more powerful the ritual or rune; this is something that she would inform her students of, though she will not warn nor urge them to be careful with their magic. She does no more than teach people how to use their blood as magic - what they go on to do with the talent means very little to her. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave them below! |
